What is GravLock?
GravLock is a water-based, non-toxic stone and mulch binder that helps keep loose stones and mulch securely in place. It’s designed to offer long-lasting stability without compromising permeability.
How does GravLock work?
Simply apply it by pouring, spraying, or mixing into stones or mulch—it requires no dilution—and let it dry in warm, dry conditions. Once cured, it binds materials together while keeping the surface permeable.
Is GravLock SUDS compliant?
Yes, GravLock still allows the bound stone and mulch to retain the natural permeability
Is it safe for the environment, pets, and children?
Yes. GravLock is entirely water-based and non-toxic, making it safe for use around pets and children.
Does it alter the appearance of stones?
The binder dries clear and does not add colour. However, it enhances and highlights the natural colours of stones—much like they look when wet—without masking them.
Does the stone need to be clean?
Yes, ensure the stone is dry and free from debris, dust and dirt to ensure the best possible bond can be achieved.
What sizes of stones work best?
The strongest bonding is achieved with stones between 4 mm and 10 mm in diameter. It can also secure stones up to 20 mm, though these are better suited for decorative, rather than foot-traffic, applications.
Is it suitable for driveways or heavy traffic areas?
No. GravLock is not suitable for driveways, heavy traffic zones, or areas supporting garden furniture with point-load stress. It’s more suited to decorative paths and patios with light use.
How much does a 5-litre bottle cover?
One 5 litre bottle covers up to 10m² per single coat, dependant on application method.
How long does it take to dry and protect?
Allow 48 hours of warm, dry weather (above about 5 °C) for full bonding and durability.
How long will GravLock last?
GravLock offers protection for up to 2 years, helping reduce maintenance and keep surfaces tidy.
Is the product flammable?
GravLock is non-flammable.
How should GravLock be stored?
GravLock should be kept in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight to maintain effectiveness.
Can you jet wash the stones after applying GravLock?
No, we don’t recommend jet washing, as high pressure can damage the bond. Instead, clean with warm water.
